Privacy Policy
Aangus exists to help children learn and to connect them with support. To do that, we collect information — and because most of our users are children, we hold ourselves to a strict standard about it. This page says plainly what we collect, why, who can see it, and what we will never do.
What we collect
From Aangus Scholars (students): the answers given during signup and the milestone questions — name, date of birth, family and school details, health and wellbeing answers — plus documents they upload (birth certificate, result cards), their daily log, their learning activity, and messages they send to Aangus.
From teachers: name, phone number, school details, verification documents, and their daily attendance confirmations.
From parents and guardians: name, phone number, date of birth, identity document photos and a self-photo (used only to verify that a guardian is who they say they are), and which children they are connected to.
From reporters: identity and verification documents, contact details, district, and their task activity.
From Aangus Friends (supporters):name, email, country, and payment records. Friends never provide information about children and never receive children's personal information.
Why we collect it
Only for these purposes: verifying that people are who they say they are, keeping children safe, running scholarships, showing each person their own progress, and improving how Aangus teaches. We do not use this information for advertising. We do not sell it to anyone, ever.
Who can see a child's information
The shortest honest answer: almost nobody.
- The child sees their own record and can download it.
- A verified parent or guardiansees their own child's progress — never another child's.
- A verified teacher sees only the first name, partial ID, and attendance status of students who named them — never documents, family details, or messages.
- An Aangus Friend browsing or supporting a scholarship sees only a first name, district, grade, and learning activity — never a full name, photo, school, document, or any way to contact the child.
- Reporters helping with a task see only what that task needs.
- The Aangus team sees full records, because verification and child safety require it. Every change the team makes to a record is logged with who made it and why.
There is no public list of children. Children's information never appears in marketing.
Messages to Aangus
Messages sent through the Aangus chat are read and answered by the Aangus team. Teacher comments about a student are visible only to the Aangus team — never to the child or other parties — and exist so we can help.
How long we keep information
For as long as an account is active, and as long as needed afterward for safety, legal, and record purposes. A parent or guardian may ask us to review, correct, or delete their child's information by contacting us through the Aangus chat or hello@aangus.org. Some records (for example, that a scholarship was paid) must be kept even after deletion requests, and we will explain what and why.
Security
Information is stored on secured servers, access is limited by role, identity documents are never shown to anyone except the Aangus team, and passwords are never stored in readable form or saved to devices.
Changes
If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so on this page and, for significant changes, notify account holders.
